Oil stain siding

Hey guys any advice on a house that has been previously stained with oil semi-transparent. Its fading and the homeowner wants it cleaned and restained but should I strip the old finish and brighten before applying the new stain? My gut says yes to get the look I want but any advice is appreciated.

Ken, is it really necessary to strip faded oil based stain from siding? It isn't a deck, and (depending on the situation of course) an new coat of oil semi on it should soak in, shouldn't it?
