First off...start with your spelling. A professional approach is essential to leaving a good impression on customers.

I hope having over 20 spelling and grammar mistakes, in what should be a few sentences, isn't an indicator of how your business will be....

Maybe I am just deeply prejudiced - but I just cannot fathom someone being succesful in business who is basically illiterate. If you can't spell - then keep on working for the 'man'. I am sorry to say this, but the trades are filled with hard working tradesmen - but that doesn't mean you can just wing it in business. Business is business no matter if you are assembling aegis missile warheads or doing exterior repaints - the same basic principles apply to each - and you won't see execs in Raytheon who can't spell!

Plain Painter Im getting so sick and tired of you being so negative, you slam every new guy you get a chance to, give it a rest. Your are no expert in the painting buisness, and should learn to use a more positive tone in your post. imo

Integrity, skill, leadership and resourcefulness will take you a lot farther in business than good spelling. So will kindness and courtesy. If English is not your first language as in my case, or spelling was your worst subject, so be it. A couple rude comments won't stop you from succeeding. Don't be afraid to ask questions. That's how I got started, and four years later, my clients keep spreading my name.

Sad, but true, people judge you by how you speak, and spell. I have a dictionary right here on my desk, and use it often. I am not ashamed to say that even after a college education, I forget how to spell. I do believe that there are a lot of intelligent people who simply do not take the time to spell correctly, mainly because they do not want to take the time to look up a word. I really doubt that there are millionaires out there that do not care if their communications to their subordinates are misspelled. Point made.
Happy painting, Paul.
