On remodels I have had the plumber remove them, I have them sand blasted, and then apply a new finish with my HVLP rig for a quality result. On re-paints that is not an option. How do you paint those paint flaking radiators.

wire brush and either rattle can it or use some sort of high temp paint

Ah, another resurrection. Some one's been digging in the graveyard :yes:

Anybody paint them black? I was told many years ago that flat black transfers heat more efficiently (the person said that race car engines were flat black for that reason).

I did it in the house I owned then, I think it made a difference. And it look better than silver, IMO. I know some people paint them the color of trim or walls, but many layers of paint deter transfer of heat.

We used to sand and brush them in place and paint them with a brush. Tedious.
