Anyone now of a good way to hide surface imperfections on wood houses? We usually use exterior woodfiller for small surface imperfections, sand and prime.... is that safe?
If you mean will it last yes if you are talking about filling dents and dings.Patching scraped areas on clapboards usually will not work though I do know of painters who use Bondo and swear by it.
I do a ton of exterior restoration work. I use a lot of min wax epoxy and automoyive spot puddy. Spot puddy is great for small dings and such. Very quick to dry and easy to sand.
What is spot putty, who makes it and where can I get it? I have used the 2 part minwax epoxy for dryrot areas. I am looking for something thats comparible in quality but easier to sand.
Spot putty is a product for repairing small dents and imperfections on car bodys.Comes in a can or tube. Can is a better deal. Very easy to use. Just spread on out of the can let dry 15-30 mins sand off with 100 paper. I usually use a palm sander.the attached picture shows the entire area with a coating of spot putty before sanding. Smoooooooooooooooth as a babies but when finished.
