It's been 15 yrs since I last touched tung oil.

My question is can we put a poly over the tung oil?

This is an interior cedar ceiling and trim the HO want's matched to his cabinets.

This is in a 2,500 sqft pool house with a sauna.

You shouldn't have any issues going over tung oil with a poly.

Just make sure the tung oil is completely dry/cured, and that you're actually using "pure tung oil" and not "tung oil finish". The "tung oil finish" products that I see a lot of out there actually do have some sort of varnish in them; those I'm not so sure if they're poly-compatible.

Thinking about it now, if the room gets a lot of steam/moisture from the pool you might want to consider using a spar varnish instead of poly.
