I have a project to refinish a pair of single bay garage doors. The doors have faded after about 5 years since original stain was applied. See photos and videos. Doors have a natural wood grain. The original stain was flat and low gloss.

Questions:

1) How do you recommend I prep the surface? I was planning to just use a wood cleaner and a wire brush to remove any loose wood and debris. Do I need to strip old stain and/or sand?
2) What type of stain would you all recommend. This is northern facing exposure in Texas.

depends on the stain originally used. being in texas it was most likely "ready seal" and color looks like just straight black *burnt hickory". If that's the case just scrub with oxiclean or other detergent and rinse. dry 48+ hours and stain
