My supplier messed up and gave me Regal Select for a job I first coated with regular Regal. My men complained that the 1st coat of Select (which was going to be the 2nd coat) had lines. Problem cured with another coat. Anyone have this ever?

So far all my experience with Select has been great. I can't see how what you were going over ( as long as similar sheen) would have made any diff.
Only things I can think of are not mixed good enough or operator error..

I can't believe the coverage from the regular Regal Matte over the years - it's stunning what it's done with one coat. Everytime Ben Moore makes an upgrade to a technically better resin or something - it's always streaky or not as good in coverage. That's why I will always take the regular regal until I don't have an option. At some point the select will be just as good, but I won't voluntarily try it until it's the only option left.

Zero issues here. Regal Select is my go to wall paint regardless of sheen! Primarily use egg shell and I have put this product through its paces daring it to make me look bad! It's passed every test I have tried ! I have gone as far as to mark a large painted X on the wall prior to first coat as well as second coat! I am not sure BM endorses the same application as Aura with cut in / dry then roll but Regal Select has shown no evidence of hat banding or flashing! Love the product! Does well in ultra deep colors also but I usually step up to Aura on accent walls!

the line issue has come up with a few folks for us. the few things i could think of was was the base dry? app. error? or i could see if the 1st coat was different from the top coat could it be a genex colorant issue? i have yet to prove the later but it has come up here a few times.

It was matte. The same man has used select about a dozen times all over preped walls(sanded, spot plaster and spot primed). never directly as a 2nd coat over Regal. The 2nd coat of select went on fine. Just a waste of labor and paint.
