Hello All,

I have a HO that has a R panel metal roof. She had it painted about three years ago. Anyhow, the knucklehead used flat latex interior paint
So obviously the paint is peeling, what's left of it
. She had asked about just replacing the entire roof with new R panel, which I could install. But, I suggested to her that I thought it could be repainted with some decent paint. So my questions are:

1. I talked with the BM paint shop owner and he recommends using D.T.M. (Direct to Metal) Acrylic Semi-Gloss. He said he used this on his own roof and it worked great. Any comments about this product?

2. I have a brand new Titan 440i. I researched this rig for a few months before I bought it. Would this critter be able to shoot the product? The BM guy recommended using a .028 or .030 tip. Any other ideas, comments?

If I get the job, I plan to power wash using T.S.P. first.

Thanks

I have a 550XC which the 440 basically replaced when they changed to the red machines. Same pump. Biggest tip I run with it is a 517. Yours will shoot it with that fine, but you will have to thin it a tad or it will finger. With semi-gloss that will show. Only other thing I can suggest here is keep the color close to the original, it's a no no to paint for example white over a chocolate brown or dark blue. I assume the panels are steel?
Cheers

Thanks for the replies. Yes, the roof is steel and will be repainted to original color. Is the BM direct to metal latex worth the price? The BM store owner quoted $44.00 per gallon. He said to figure about 150 sq. ft. per gallon.
