Hello all!

My name is Josh. I currently am working for a woman that has absolutely no appreciation for my dedication over the last three years. Now I spread My wings. I have a baby that is due in October and I know that I have to do what I have to do for my Family. I don't know everything about the business, but I do have a slight clue on where to begin. I am open to all suggestions, ideas and comments. I have really enjoyed reading what everyone has to offer. Thanks to all!

Oh basket. Congratulations on the baby, and I hope this is not a spur of the moment decision. If you are serious, you need to really put together a good plan, especially for marketing.

Also, if you think your boss doesnt appreciate you, often as a self employed business person you dont feel appreciated all the time either. I think the thing to do is weigh stability versus risk as it relates to your life.

No, not spur of the moment. I plan on keeping my Job until my marketing Plan starts being effective. This has been something in the works for a few months now. I have been doing some light marketing for my Company Ive been working for 2 months now and it seems to be working. I plan on setting up weekend jobs for a company of my own, until things pick up. Momma didn't raise no fool

Welcome Josh, I operated a paint company in Newport News from 75-2001. My advice is to go for it. There is a market there for true high end painting don't get bogged down trying to compete in new construction. Try to cultivate a high end clientele through decorators and paint store managers. Also high end furniture stores. Once you get a few happy customers it will multiply. It worked for me. Good luck. MOPAINT
