are signs ,of all trades nailed to telephone poles , fince posts, stuck up at every inter section around! Trades trying to keep there names in front of potential leads, and good luck to them.
I am bussy now , best Dec in two years even have work for most of Jan. I am starting to realize how tuff it is out there for most and wonder if my turn is coming up soon?
I am just going to do more of what I have done this past year to ensure I had work for the Wenter, calling up clients that had stated they were interested in more painting later in the year and press them for doing their painting they had talked about back in the Summer and offer my Wenter rates as a insentive. I always charge $50.00 per day less in the Wenter, Already picked up a complete interior.

I also started offering a residual payment for any referal jobs I get from any home owner I have done work for, that too has paid off, got a call last week from a homeowner that was reffered to me by a client from just a month ago I had offered a residual for
any lead that translated into a job for me.
That homeowner will be recieving a $100. bill from me and glad to pay it. I bet I will get more from this guy {car salesman;) }

Just a little info on what I did and what I am doing to stay in busness, hope this post helps, also if ya didn't prepare for the slow Wenter months the best advise is to expand your adverisment, you have to keep your name in front of clients.:thumbup:

Been doing this method for awhile and its been great. One client, who is a banker gives the $100.00 to his kids. Work well with me.:thumbsup:

I was pleased to see it work for me, I have only told the last two clients that I give referral fees that leed to jobs, and I already picked up a $2,000 job, well worth the $100.I will give the home owner that referred me. I give.5% and of course I figure that in along with over head, material and always gas of course. ;)

Why would you give $100 per lead? 5% of the total will close your doors quickly. We gave coupons or movie tickets if the job you land is over $2k. If the job is less it is going to kill you to give 5%. I think that buying leads from your customers looks cheap and I don't think that any of my customers want/need $100. I think that they refer us because they are happy with our work...not because were giving them money

Ben - when you say $350/per day - is that just the labor or materials included. I've been thinking of $400/per day which would inlcude enough for materials and $40-$45/per hour depending how expensive materials where. That being said - large living rooms with a closet and mud room take at least a week to do - and people stare at me when I want $2,400.

It is just labor, I have found this rate to work well enough to get 40 % of what I bid on and that is about what you should expect for a rasonable rate. BPTL

The signs on the pole look horrible, but it must work. That is one of the main advertising methods for Got Junk. Just the other day, I saw one of their trucks pull to the side of the street. All of a sudden a guy popped out of the back and a ladder went up the light pole. He ran up nailed a sign and they were gone in 30 seconds. Seems pretty shady, but it seems to work for them. It was a funny thing to see.
