We use Cover Stain on new interior trim & doors (usually clear pine, mdf, and poplar). It's great but we end up sanding through it pretty easily even with 220/320. Would like a harder primer but probably won't be buying FPE's oil undercoater at $175/gal.

Any other suggestions for a brushable, oil primer that sands well? Thank You.
