Spraying emerald matte

Looking for help on this paint job I sprayed. I used a prox17 with 516 fflp tip. Sprayed emerald matte at 2200 psi on a guage at the pump and had 50% overlap. Temperature outside in mid to low 60s temp inside 68 to 72. All of it sprayed inside with door closed and room taped off. Initial coat was sprayed horizontal all subsequent coats vertically.

This is the second time I am getting the vertical marks and am not sure what I am doing wrong. I am getting good coverage and maintaining 12 to 14 inch distance while tapering off each pass on the floor and ceiling.
The earlie picture I was spraying same conditions except pressure was 1300 psi I raised the pressure after talking to SW rep who said the pressure was too low even for a fflp tip. I told him I can adjust pressure and change tip to 517 but I was told 516 would be alright just needed higher pressure.

It just looks like basic tails to me. Pressure too low (still), perhaps. Maybe you need to thin it out a little. Dirty or worn tip. And no backroll.

(I also don't like Emerald because the open time, in my experience, is less than many other paints. It easily flashes).

Dial up the pressure. Check you spray pattern before starting and look carefully at the fan. And get an assistant to backroll right behind you.

I was debating on backrolling and decided not to but I am second guessing my decision. I did a test spray on some cardboard before hand and it looked great no tails and even coverage. Tip has less then 3 gallons on it and has been cleaned well after first use bought the tip specifically for this job.

I was thinking maybe extend my spray distance? I could increase the pressure again but don't know if that would help.

I didn't even think about thinning it but wouldn't be opposed to it if it helped.

There's more than 1 good reason for backrolling.

Thinning a bit and increasing pressure are more or less two different routes to the same goal of more even atomization across the whole fan. But the backroll pretty much "erases" whatever unevenness is left.

A couple of thoughts

-We use lp tips for anything larger then a .12 as usually at the point I don't really see the benefit of a fine finish
-for spraying walls I like a lp 617/619 as it gives you a few less passes
- your pressure is way to high fir the first pass and a bit too low on the 2nd for a low pressure tip

My main guess would be too low pressure and 2nd guess despite what you just said would be spraying too far apart or an old tip that puts too much paint in the middle.
We only spray 2nd coats if there very little light and a quick paint job, even then 1 or 2 walls might be back rolled due to size or visibility. The understanding is that there could be a few halos like that but def not a full wall.

Is this new drywall? Are you Sanding between coats atleast?. I still don't get why people don't backroll. To me it's cutting corners.

This is now drifting off the OP's direct question and all. But Graco reps were at my local SW store once demo'ing their "Jetroller" system. I was pretty intrigued, but the co. wasn't ready to drop the dough.

I'm surprised I've not seen mention of them here (which doesn't mean there aren't any!), and wondering if anyone has one, had tried one, etc. I'm posting a link to an 18" (below), but they also have 9's. Maybe 14's - haven't really looked.

Those are cool, but you still have to get in the corners and imagine are quite heavy..?

I had the tritech, which you can use with any existing frame 9,14,18 and detach to use the frame or use the pole to spray lids. And yes they are very heavy I gave up trying to use it. I don't have the years of built up strength to use them. I think if you got a big fella on your crew who can handle it those would be useful
