I am part owner of a landscaping business and we just built some offices. We did a tuscan trowel down on the concrete for our floors. The colors we used are earth colors like chocolate, tan, and a little darker red. I cant decide what color I should stain the would ceiling and what color to trim/paint. I would prefer to paint the trim but I do not wanna do white. Any suggestions on what color trim would look good against a stained ceiling other than white? I searched for pics of stained ceilings but didnt have any luck.

The ceiling is 6" v groove white pine. As to how a landscaper gets into building offices? I have grown up building things with my father and wanted to design and build the offices. It is much cheaper to do it yourself and it allows you to spend more on things like the ceilings, fixtures, appliances, etc. I will try to post up some pics soon.

Pine is a tricky species to stain. At best, with v-groove, you should prestain it so that there is stain on top of the tongue so that when the wood shrinks you dont see a stripe. Ultimately, I wouldnt stain it too dark. Minwax Ipswich Pine is a good example of the range to go it. Puritan pine is nice. I stained a pine floor in my house by cutting puritan pine 50/50 with natural to lighten it. As to paint colors, personal preference. Maybe something to pick up on the knots in the pine...

Minwax Ipswich Pine is a good example of the range to go it.

My wife loves Ipswich Pine. We used it on the bed I built, as well as the curio cabinet I built for her pig collection. I must admit I like it as well, but it wasn't my choice, if you know what I mean.

I have not purchased the wood for the ceiling yet. We will stain it before putting it up. Here are a few pics of one of the offices. All I had was my cell phone to take pics with. Does anyone have pics of some stains they used? I would like the see the Ipswich Pine.

Yes crown will be put up. Thats my problem I dont wanna use white or off white trim so I need a good color that will go good up against the stained ceiling. Considering we are a landscaping business I am trying to keep earthy colors. I will try and get a pic of the color I had in mind for trim.

If you havent put it up yet why not just stain some sample boards and hang them close to the walls to get a feel for the contrast in colors? Make sure to poly them (if your going to poly it). Keep in mind poly will yellow over time ...unless you use a latex poly.

I seen that ceiling while searching around for ceiling posts. Looks great just not what I am looking for. So maybe stain the crown the same as ceiling and then choose whatever trim I want for the rest.

You can go to a Benjamin Moore retailer and get sample bottles for 5 bucks and actually put color samples on the walls and trim to see if you like the colors before you make a commitment. It's hard to get color advice on a forum.

You could hire a good paint contractor instead of all the guessing. Where are you from? I'm sure we have a contractor here from your area.
