I have never used them for painting, but used a borrowed pair for nailspotting a drywall lid once. They were abt 20" if I remember.

Don't see them much.
I think they may not be legal here in CA???

I know a guy who uses them in his plaster company and I've seen 1 painter use them, but not too many guys out there are. I'd say 20" seems about right-but obviously it depends on the height of the ceiling and how tall you are.

Just be careful, they are akward at first and I wouldn't recomment using them on finished floors.

Ditto...

I used to love them for commercial jobs. I could run around the grid in half the time and still bend over to refill my work pot sitting on the ground. I have wanted to get another pair and use them when I can but had the knee cut on last year and I am a bit leary of hearing my wife wear me out with the "should of known better" speil
