Textured panel board?

A customer wants his (4-6-8 just a guess) panel boards in living room textured over. Its painted gloss white right now.

Ive never textured over Paneling before.

What am i expecting, and what kind of surface preparation should i perform? Any other suggestions or comments would be great. Thanks
