This isn't a glamour detail, just wondering if you all do this.
I'm only a 2 and occasionally 3 person gig and currently have 3 jobs going. I have one large interior I've been working on in stages when it rains. Also have an exterior where the prep work is completed, it just needs paint. I go there when it's dry. And I just started prepping another small exterior since it wasn't raining, but too wet to paint.

Noone is complaining, just an occasional sarcastic remark.
Good for the wallet, but bad for business?

I believe it could be bad for biz if you don't keep it under control. I would think tho instead of starting the 3rd prep on ext. if it was too wet to paint outside why not go back to the interior and try and wrap that up?

I joggle a lot of stuff like that also in the summer with the weather and exteriors. I have learned that I need to give priority to at least one of he jobs.

If you are upfront with both homeowners, they will understand. Most exterior customers obviously understand why you don't work on thier job when its wet. We give the interior jobs the option of waiting for us to get to a point where we can give undivided attension to the job, (in other words, wait) or work on the job on days it is wet.
Most would rather us start as soon as possible so they don't have to wait. Don't know if we'd juggle 3 jobs like that though.

I offer people a discount is their interior project can be a rainy day project.

Im a one man show, when things get outta hand I get help. but as a rule knowin that I cant do 2-3 jobs at once, I make clear to the HO that I wont start a project until Im done with the prior. they seem to be ok with it, it gives them a secure feelin knowin that when I start theirs,, I will finish it before runnin off to somthin else. but there is times things get loose, and I hire a couple whiteboys to help out, they usually work ok, as long as your there with them. but I never leave them at a HO place alone. its better for my business to tell the HO wait, than to start and have it look like I aint got my **** together.

I agree with all your comments.
Actually Mak, I'm doing what you suggested. Pushing the 3rd prep off till next week. HO is fine with it after todays downpours.
I agree Sev that it's not always smart extending yourself like this, but here in Mass we've been hit with storms/showers at least 3-4 days a week for the past 6 weeks. That exterior that just needs paint, only needs it on a few sections....one that is under a deck, that is hardly ever dry and a pool house completely shaded by a tree and that takes 2 days to dry also. (Not sure if these sections have been dry enough for paint all summer)

I did give a rainy day discount on the interior and they are well aware of the great deal they got.

Did I mention I'm supposed to leave for vaca on thursday?
