doubt he is grossing several hundred thousand and up like many legit contractors are!

He has the dim witlessness to tell me how the scam works. EVERY THING is EXTRA once he comes through the door, then he takes them to the cleaners! I suspect he needs to run ads full time because he sure ain't getting it on referral!

Whoa, $200 a day! Now yer talkin'. If he's working on the books, that'll be before at least 15% to Revenue Canada and 5% for ON. That gets him down to $160/day. It's like a "South Park" episode where everything Canadians do is followed by "as is the custom".
$60 to paint any room anywhere, as is the custom.
I had this guy ask me to zip into his house to give him a price on painting his 2 story entrance and stairwell. NC house, stupid wraparound stairs, a ledge in one spot super awkward ladder placements. He was a CHEAP btard (had painted the rest of the house himself same colour) and he was waiting for me to say "Oh sure I'll do it for $60, as is the custom" but instead I said "Oh sure I'll do it for $300". I wish I had a camera! His eyes popped out of his head and he had a mini stroke. I beat it out of there and he never called me. 'lol guy' should give him his card

I almost said never....then I remember the first big deal I did for angies list.....I think I ended up with... $70-$90 or something around there....we definitely never ran that deal again....it was like $149 a room or $99... im definitely done with big deals......power washing is the only one I like....and I ran a new roof deal and got a good job out of it....
That reminds me, his numbers were in CAD, so we need to use the latest exchange rate. As of Friday noon that was .96. so $60 CAD=$57.60. That's better.
On a serious note, how does this low-price-to-get-in-the-door/ bait-and-switch approach help improve the general public's perception of contractors? Is it a good thing for us to be competing with used car salesman and congresscritters for the title of Least Trusted Occupation??
