Yup,

we got thrown off once. We were painting and papering for a lady wannabe developer. We had already done some of her "properties" and was working in her house for the Christmas rush. The Bull **** actually threw my wallpaper table out of the door. Barbara Mayti was her name as in "Aye, Matey"

I can't remember the final straw that broke the camel's beack, but trouble had been brewing for awhile. If she hadn't thrown us out, we woulda walked awful soon.

My old partner and I still consider it a feather in our cap.

Never, I have thrown crappy painter off my jobs though:

Had a private school re-paint and was short on labor. Called a place that promised me a journey man painter 10+ years. He got paint on the metal flashing and I told him to clean it off. He actually asked me if I had any goof-off. I told him to come down off that ladder and I sent his novice butt home. Cost him 15 minutes of his time and the two hour no charge rule saved me from having to pay for a quarter hour.

Had a entry door to strip (time & material). Going buy the directions of the product you have to allow it to sit for X amount of time before scraping it off and you can only work with it for X amount of time then have to take a breather break for X minutes.

So I'd apply a coat & had absolutely nothing else I could do there, so would take a seat in my truck for 15 minutes. Then I'd scrape it off, apply another coat, then go take another 15 cleaning out the truck or something. So the homeowner calls the company I was working for & told them their worker hasn't been doing nothing but hanging around all day, so they want me to leave now & if they put me back on that jobsite they'll call the police. I guess they expected me to kill myself trying to make this thing get done faster, when in reality it would only make the job take longer?

I was actually really happy I got tossed though. That door wasn't no fun.

I threw a painting crew off once,
2 problems,
1. Continually complained and asked for more. I lost it after the 3rd request and 40% more $.
2. His father worked for him. He used to yell at his old man all day. Finally, I told him he had to leave but his father could stay, and until he had some respect he could never set foot in my house again. His father a genuine nice guy.
As they left, his father sort of smiled at me, while his son was ranting like a loonatic.
He had a tiny little dog with him and a suburban with 22's.
my wife and I had champagne on his departure and then hired a very good contractor in the area.

Also had one on an job with construction going on. Caretaker wanted us to work in our stocking feet. Told him that my insurance would not cover injuries from barefoot employees and standing on ladders rungs barefoot hurt.

I have never been "thrown off a job", but one lady about made me rude. I held my comments to her and simply told her that I was tired of the vitriolic diatribe that she continually accosted me with, and told her that I would no longer be working for her. She had issues, too big of an ego, too wimpy of a husband, and a track record of loosing contractors. I lost around $400 that was owed to me.:censored: Happy painting, Paul

Haven't been tossed yet. Once when I worked for Facelifters installing their bathroom surrounds. What a gig that was. Horrible product, GUARANTEED ONE DAY INSTALLATION.......tub liner, wall surround, valve, shower head, drain and all accessories.
I'd pull into the driveway sideways doing 90 and start huckin my tools on the lawn. wonder why the customer got nervous.

What Happened????
okay. I was burning off the fascia board on the customer's garage, one hot, balmy evening. when i returned next day the garage was gone. replaced by a nice warm pile of ashes. he (the owner) was okay about it. but his wife... she kept screaming "my f****** beatle".

so that was that.
