Goals for 2010
1 train apprentices, 2 employees to get to journeyman and 2 enrolled in program.
.
2 revamp web site. And work on SEO, and social media
.
3 change and use a more effective accountant.
.
4 improve on office management skills.
.
5 Add 3 new builders (already working on 1).
.
6 increase networking with like minded business.
.
7 finally but not least. Find one notable charity cause and donate time or money. And/or add too for every builder I pick up. Giving matters!
.
I'm sure this list will grow. I feel I am short of 3 goals. I feel I need 10 to keep me fired up.

Sorry I'm not goal orientated - I'm a reactionary. No seriously, I don't do New Years resolutions, don't have long range plans, and do not set goals.

Too many forces beyond my control to plan too far ahead. I'll take it as it comes and adjust as needed.

I do wish the Patriots had a goal to play some footbal this year. They are just bad. Looks like pre-Kraft years.

To me its not a n.y.r. or a goal it a challenge. To keep me focused. It seems when I don't express what my goals are but have the desire for those goals. Most of the goals never gets accomplished. There something about speaking/writing it out. Its just speaking what you would like to see for your business.

I feel a good one is anything to do with the troops.

I am very antiwar, especially the intentionally created war profiteering bullsh*t that all of conflicts from the last 100 years have actually been about in truth.

But I am VERY pro troop. I don't blame an 18 year old kid for not having the life experience to understand that they are being told a complete lie as to why they are being asked to make sacrifices for their country.

So I have the utmost respect for any soldier who joins to serve because from their perspective they are willing to put their life on the line to protect all of our freedoms, and as individual human beings and members of our society troops deserve the ultimate respect for their intentions for making that commitment.

As civilians, they get left to twist in the wind after they have been used up, so I feel it's our responsibility to try to contribute to their well being, even if you are anti-war.

Pro-troop charities are good.

Also if you worry about where your money is going, give to local smaller organizations with transparent finances and a verifiable staff and history.

Or find a way to actually donate time, that way you know that your efforts are going where you intended them to go.

Contributing to the well being of kids and the elderly is pretty easy by donating actual time. There are lots of different ways to do that and know for sure that your efforts are going where you intend them to go.

The Homes for our Troops house we did was one of the best things we did this year, the family was the greatest and it was truly an honor to be part of it.
The family sent me their Christmas newsletter and we still connect on Facebook. Everyone we met from HFOT was the greatest.
I would encourage everyone to do something like this, great goal Gabe! LC, you are spot on, find someone local that you can make a difference to!

Goal for 2010: #1 - Take it easy
#2 - See #1

Now I know whats been missing the last couple of weeks; this is usually the time I do my business goals...and I had'nt really even thought about it. But I can add one more:
#3 - Wishing that all of you reach whatever goals you set

(And as Gabe said, it's always good to give a little back. You'd be surprised at the impact you can have on somebody's life.)

I usually only set personal goals. Of course they are not achieved if my business does not do well but here they are.

1)Have absolutely no debt - credit cards or vehicles etc (mortgage isnt going anywhere)
2)Buy the lot for my future house out right (no loan)

#1 is pretty much already achieved got a way to go for #2

I guess my main goal for business is to just stay on top of things a little better, no matter what is going on with the kids sports or school that I need to not put anything off. I have spurts where I am on the ball and others where I'm not. If I stay on top of things then I think all other business goals will fall into place accordingly.

That is a very good point. If the growth isn't planned / controlled then absolute disaster could follow. Now, ask me how I know that:whistling2:
