trim & door touch up

hey, i am working on wood trim and doors, they look good. they are currently stained and polyed. only a few scratches here and there. customer wants them refinished. can i sand with fine wool then apply stain poly mixture. going back same stain color. thanks

I hate the stain poly combo stuff. did some replacement windows with em and the color is just not as even. I would use some fine grit sandpaper, wipe really clean after vacuuming, rub some stain around with a rag to just fill in the nicked parts and then poly the whole thing.

if you just touch up the poly it doesn't level out right. if it were my own door I might just touch up the poly but never on a customers door.
