Hello all,

I have a vinyl job coming up and I'm wondering if anyone has applied the paste directly to new drywall without priming. The last one I bid I allowed for primer and was underbid. I found out later that this company didn't prime. They used Roman 880 directly to the drywall. The product specs allow it and the general didn't have a problem with it. I would be worried about stripping the vinyl later on but apparently this is not an issue. Does anyone have any feedback?

Thanks
Kanadaeh

Use the sizing...!

Well, at least those people can "hang" the installers :censored: who didn't prime/size...if they change their mind about the paper!!!

Stress to clients the grief they'll encounter when deciding to take down the paper in the future!! I should know...we hear it EVERYDAY in the store..."So & so didn't 646nq&$**t0#%%r9*@-ing size the walls b4 hanging the paper... "

Keep stressing this!!

If they just don't want to size the wall, it'll also cost them more$$$ to repair, etc., the walls when it's time to strip & repaint.

gotta feel bad for the guy who eventually tries to take that stuff down, you should write under the vinyl that you hope he bid it T&M. That would really piss me off if I was trying to strip it 10 years from now, and seen a smart ass comment like that on the drywall. But then again all the paper is gonna pull off the rock when he tries to strip it , so the poor bastard will never see it anyways.
