This is the new general forum soooo.... How many of you give off (paid) for holidays, and what do you consider holidays?

I don't have any program for that set up. But I am always interested in improving my employee benefits package so I would love to hear what others have to say on the subject.
We have a few paid holidays-- Thanksgiving and day after, Christmas, New Years, Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day.

A few paid holidays? That's all of them

So what do you do, just pay them eight hours for that day?
Yes, we pay for 8 hours.

I meant a few compared to government employees, who seem to get a whole lot more-- MLK Day, President's Day, Columbus Day, Groundhog Day, Good Friday, Arbor Day, etc. When I had a real job I got 10 or 11 holidays.

Ya I do tday, xmas, new years and the 4th... was thinking about adding a few more.
Eight paid Holidays in Canada.
If they are full time employees, it is the law.
Hey George... serious? It's a law in Canada to pay for 8 holidays? Wow....

I don't mind, I think it's great.
Other than Victoria Day (for Queen Victoria:eek: )

When we talk about benefits though,
Basic Health Care is free here.
When an employer is talking about benefits, they are talking only about
supplementary ones, like dental, eye glasses etc.
So in a way, burden is cheaper when benefits are provided.
So, maybe it evens out.
