What if we had an entire section devoted to reviews of tools, products & materials?

Rather than searching through every last thread, hoping to find the info you're looking for, I thought it might be great if we had a designated section where we could read reviews from other members, (kinda like on C.T., but geared towards painters). I've spent countless hours trying to find info from past threads, and with tools, products & materials constantly being tweaked, it might help all of us stay current on the latest changes.

Not even sure if it's something which could be done. Just an idear.

Yes to have a Review/rating area for products and tools would be awesome. Set up like consumer reports qualifying in several areas to establish a ranking. I.e.
Dry times
Brushability
True sheen
Actual coverage.

Yes, but these reviews & insight would be more accurate than CR. I know we currently have the Sub-forums already, but I'm talking about a more structured, easily searchable database with categories, headings/subheadings, of what you're looking for.

Would be nice to have a set of subforums and limit threads to only be about a single product, and only one thread per product. So you could have:

Product Reviews
--Paint & Primers
----Benjamin Moore Regal Select Interior Thread
----Benjamin Moore Ultra Spec Primer Thread
----Sherwin Williams ProMar 400 Thread
--Brushes & Rollers
----Purdy White Dove Thread
--Etc.

It might take some time to fill out nicely, but in a year I could see it being the most informative and thorough listing of its type that exists.

Reviews are subjective though. Some prefer titan over graco, some prefer Ben Moore over behr or Sherwin williams, and so forth. Look at how badly behr gets bagged already on this forum as an example.

True, but just like any review, you must consider the source. At least the reviews would be by PT Members. Each viewer would then see who wrote the review and base their merit accordingly.
