These are pics of an exterior I placed a bid on to pressurewash . These spots are on the down spouts and vinyl siding. You will notice how close the trees are to the house and this keeps the sun from hitting these areas. In your opinion, what are these spots?

Is it oil or latex on that mess TH? This is critical to the diagnosis.

siding and spouts are only a few years old. All coatings are from the manufacturer.

Vinyl siding in the shade ...moisture has no where to go.....let it sit a couple more years it will all be black..... I'm sure the wood under the siding has the same problem.

I deal with a lot of mildew and mold, and it doesn't like like either to me. But it is hard to tell from the pictures. Mildew is seldom so clearly defined. It usually has a "fuzzier" edge.

Having said that, there are different types of mold and mildew. I am not as familiar with Yankee mildew as I am with Texas mildew. (And as you might imagine, Texas mildew is bigger, tougher, and a whole lot sexier ). The real test is to spray a little diluted bleach on it. If it goes away, it's mold/ mildew.

Thats exactly what I'm thinking. Its probably only happening on that one side where its shady and damp, probably moss growing right up the foundation.

this may sound stupid...but.... ... are the bumps hard and raised ....is there a light that is kept on at night in that area? .... it almost seems like a larve or something left behind by gnat like bugs
