today started with me calling one employee who said they ended up getting another job closer to home so they were not going to be working for me any more, another one tore his meniscus last night so he had to go the doctor today, (my third employee just had their tonsils out so they are out for a couple days), a flat tire so I had to walk back home, and then I realized I lost my phone somewhere along the way. Still haven't made it out to the job-site, and its one of those where you just want to get out because you know you are not going to make any money, plus I feel the HO is not super happy about it either, but I promised I would be there today so I can get the plastic off their windows so they can enjoy the hot, muggy outside air.

so what do you do to get through days like this?

I have to come at this situation with a "Religious" (as the world calls it) perspective. Truly, all that I do, I leave in the hands of the Lord. Any situation good or bad, I depend on Him to take care of it all and He does. I would just throw up my arms to the Lord and pray about it and keep going. when I leave a situation like this to the Lord, I no longer have to stress or worry about it. Jesus, says that if you do not ask Him for something then how can you recieve it? I am not implying that you need to do the same thing (although it couldn't hurt ;)), this is just the way I deal with most of everyday. The day belongs to the Lord and all that is in it. I live a stress free lifestyle because of my dependency upon my creator.

Ride the storm with patience my friend. When you seem to be getting frustrated or worried, excersize humility and patience. When the HO calls seeming upset, tell the truth and do all that you can to get your day accomplished. Perhaps taking the initiative and calling the HO and explain what is going on, keeping on the offense of the game rather than the defense. Don't go home wondering and sulking in depression, get a hold on the day with what YOU are able to do and do that. If your a believer at all in God or Jesus, send a prayer. Matter a fact I'll send one for ya. ----------------- Sent! He is just and true to deliver.

Peace to you bro!

Rule # 62 Don't take everything so darned serious! I too will find myself getting all upset over things I really have no control over. Traffic, H O's with bad atitudes, ect... Be upfront and honest about everthing, keep your side of the street clean and things will work out the way they're supposed to. I know that this is easier said then done but with practice it gets easier. I am not a "religious" man but I am spiritual so sometimes I have to remember I'm doin' the best I can Today!! In a few weeks you'll either be laughing about it or tryin' to remember what it was that had you so upset. Nothing but growth comes from days like this.

I just poke fun at Tim all day. Always cheers me up. Other times I just deal with it. Very few times, but it happens, I'll take a half day off as the next day I'll be in a better mood & get more work done better than if I stayed on the job. Those are usually when working around other contractors.

Press on Tsunami! Tommorrow is sure to be better. Like I tell my guys all the time, all you can do is the absolute best you can, whether it means staying late yourself, making an appearance for the homeowner knowing it won't make a lick of difference except that it will make him/her feel better. Do whatever you can possibly do but after that, don'y lose any sleep. There will be better days.

Also, while I don't think it will hurt to say a prayer as Jason suggests, the lord has never worked out a business issue for me. If it makes you feel better, go for it; otherwise it's all on you. All I can say is that, after you've weathered a couple storms (and your storm certainly sounds like a good one), it gets easier to roll with it.

Haha I guess I just need a TH. My prep guy (with the torn meniscus) is kind like that JNLP.
Working (hands on) and putting my mind in another place usually does it for me.
That used to be the trick for me but I have tendentious in both my thumbs right now so isn't cutting it right now.

but I ended up scraping, sanding, cleaning and priming some windows, then it started raining so I went back and worked on my logo and talked to my web site guy.
How is this for more real? (its a really quick rough draft done in not an image program)

my day started the same, I woke up late, flat tire when i went out, spilled my coffee on my lap when i got in the truck, was running late so left the coffee in the floor, got caught by the bridge(10 more minutes late), guy if front of me stopped short all my sh*t fell in the the floor(now all wet), finally made it to my first appointment and it all turned around.

went 5 for 5 on sales attempts today, forgot all about the bad stuff until you brought it up.

Hope your day gets better tomorrow
