The homeowners with houses that look like this are not happy. And its difficult to give them a cost effective solution. I know alot of guys swear by the stuff, but this is mostly what I see of it. I could post pics like this all night long.

I've been to many deck with this problem. I really don't know enough about removing so I just don't do them.

we dont do much staining, do you have to remove all the stain when it peel/flakes like that or do you just remove the peeling part and restain?
Seems like it would be spotty if you didn't get a similar base?

I have never done a house just decks... I use HD-80 a stripper I buy online to remove heavy coating from decks.. A house would be a very costly proposition

Thats the problem. The homeowner is no longer comfortable with Sikkens, so removing the flakes and reapplying is not a good option. A full on strip and refinish is a costly option. I feel sorry for people who live with it on their house. A deck is one thing, a house...yikers.

When Sikkens Cetol isn't maintained, or, if it is not applied correctly, what a mess to fix!

We have several Sikkens 3-coat systems that are pushing 20 years now and look amazing. The difference might be that we were very carefull with the initial appliaction and we maintain these homes with a light powerwash and a single coat of Sikkens every 5 - 7 years.

When the siding gets to the point as shown in these photos, nothing but full removal will give you acceptable results.

We strip with spray applied biodegradable stripper and powerwashing. We like Rock Miracle strippers.
