I am about to repint my kitchen, dining, living, and foyer all open to each other. I hve a olive green color tht I find to dark so I am going with a lighter green to brighten up the place.

So here is the question if you where going to repaint your house now what kind of paint would you use.

I am leaning towards aura for the durability and washability seing I have a 18 month old wild child

My house is my laboratory. I've used ProMar 200, SuperPaint, Cashmere, ProClassic Waterborne, Speedhide, and several others I don't remember.

If you had a customer in your situation, what would you recommend?

I don't have any kids-- unless you count 3 cats. Personally, I'd probably go with ProMar 200 on the walls unless I had some compelling reason to use something different.

I put up promar 200 in our home. You'd think I'd put up the most expensive, but honestly, I can make anything look good-I'm a pro! Opinions vary on promar, but I used it and it's fine. A step up might be superpaint. I wouldn't spend much more than that since chances are, you'll be painting the same walls again soon, so why waste too much money.

I find the promar 200 recommendation surprising, super spec and promar are not really very impressive paints (assuming these are equivalent products). They do not wash well. There is a huge difference between a super spec level paint and and Aura, Graham Ceramic, Regal Matte, Cashmere, etc. In my area, I would never even spec one of those paints except for the cheapest new construction I do or maybe if I did apartment repaints.

aura

i have been meaning to try it so why not on my house i am in no rush to get it done just a wall at a time seing it is a large area and can not rip house apart to do all at once. I think I am going to give it a shot

I like super paint too Whispy. The red colors make me nervous, so we do not have any reds, as my wife says I am hyperactive enough already. Looks like a great paint job though. I have only painted the laundry room here, as we have only lived here for about three years, and I used Valspar. In the future I will use a SW product.

Happy painting, Paul.

You originally said you have an Aura budget and now you just said you have no plans to paint again for a long time. So, I say either use the Aura or grab some Duration. With the Duration, you'll spend probably $15 less per gallon and have an amazinly durable, top notch paintjob. There is a learning curve when using Aura, so if you go with it, you might want to do a small room first to help soak up that learning curve. You can't go wrong with either one.

I agree with Rich on this. If you have not used Duration before and have a S/W account, why not ask your rep or store to work out a deal so you can try it in your home. The Ben Moore guys in my area won't do squat on Aura. (but I do like it)
