Hello fellow painters!
One thing I'm not super acquainted with is stain. Here I have an issue of having to stain with new technology over old technology. We're talking about the outside siding of a house that has been stained with alkyd oil technology years ago with a local product (Sico). Here in Quebec we have cold and snowy winters. I haven't seen the job yet, but the customer tells me there's a bit of stain lifting but not that much, it needs to be freshen up, after 10 years.
I would like to know what would be the appropriate procedure and product(s) to use in that situation. Do I need to sand lightely of go to bare wood? Pressure wash yes. What product could be compatible on top of and oil stain?
Regards!
