I am guessing this is your first time doing a project such as this so you have no figures to base it off of?

Pricing questions do not usually go well on these forums because there are way to many variables for you to possibly get an answer from a few lines of text that will work for you. What might work well for me might not work well for you.

Also a pricing question for your first post almost always gets us going, so why not relax and ease into the forum, maybe start with an introduction here<<< and take advantage of the search feature because there is a lot of great info in some of those threads.

I say you go with the figures that you are already thinking about and see how it turns out, on the next job you will have a jumping off point because you will know if you underbid or what have you from the previous job.

2 days labor + materials + profit = price. divide price by sqft. = price per sqft!!!! WALA!!!!!!!!!

 

I thought that might be the reply i would get.. I was just looking for a ball park figure on painting standard metal decking on a commercial standard. I have a price and i am going with .75 cents as a fair quote. It is always good to get prices from other people to reassure one that the qoute he is handing over is competitive as long as he is not asking someone he is going up against. Sorry if i offended anyone about asking a question like this but it is question worth asking.

I would say you are in the ballpark. There are a lot of variables, but .75 is a solid #.

 

If you think that 15$ a gallon will get anything proper for metal (even already painted) your crazy. Double that material cost and I would check to make sure that that metal had no chalk on it before I just air hosed it off. More to commercial painting than meets the eye.

There are all sorts of paints you can get for $15 and less for a ceiling decking. There is dryfall from sw i can get for $10, i can get spraylastic dryfall for $13, and then there is DTM, Sher-cryl but these are in the $20-$30 range for my pricing. Maybe your prices are a little different than mine. I guess i did not state the decking is indoors so there is no chalk.

 

Sorry I assumed it was outdoors, Most SW dryfall can be had for less than 15$ a gal, Just in my market if I hear Metal we use DTM. Tons of metal buildings around here and most of them have DTM or Shercryl on them. But just because a surface is indoors do not assume it is "clean" right off the bat. I have seen a few dryfall jobs peel because of contaminants on the metal.
