I'm painting Rustoleum Painter's Touch latex over Sherwin Williams Proclassic acrylic latex on cabinets, and I'm having issues.
The Rustoleum is very ropey, even when I add water. I'm having to roller it on and not come back over it with a brush.
Secondly, it looks like it's cracking as it dries. Some shelves I did had a real cracked look all through them an hour later.
The back story - the cabinets were sanded, primed and painted with the Sherwin Williams on Monday for a photo shoot that took place yesterday, Tuesday.
I'm painting them back to the color they were, using the same brand and color of paint he used.
Because the SH paint was so fresh and we were under time constraints I did not sand before painting on the Rustoleum.
The good news is the colors are fairly close - a deep burgundy, and a chocolate brown.
So - what's going on here?
Would XIM Extender help the ropey-ness?
Do I have to sand everything again?
Help! - thanks.
