Has anyone on here experienced issues with eliminating tails in spray pattern with using SW water-based dryfall? I'm finishing up a large grocery store ceiling, sprayed 31 pails with no issues ordered 5 more pails to finish up and bring the ceiling color down on the walls to 14'. These new pails not matter what I do don't seem to want to atomize and spray tails. I'm using a 1095 sprayer which is more than sufficient, tried all different tips FFLP, LTX all different sizes. Filters are clean. Pressure is maxed out and the only thing that seems to work is thinning the paint out significantly. I've had this issue before on a much larger paint order. Is there something I'm missing here or is SW just this inconsistent with their paint batches?

All I can say is that is a pretty wide array of different tips sizes. I'm guessing if you are getting tails, its the 517 bringing down the walls, otherwise it shouldn't matter too much with the small tips and spraying little pieces. What could be happening is something with your pump. The pump may not be bringing enough pressure to atomize properly. That would be the one thing not mentioned in your equation. If you started well with dryfall, then are noticing tails with more of it, then thinning to help, it may be your pump. Dryfall is pretty harsh material, it may just be something small that ate away at a seal or the material may be wearing on the rod? It doesn't take much to drop pressure. Another thing to check are your filters. Clogged up filters will drop pressure quicker than anything, gun, pump, intake. Let us know what happens.
Thank you for all your suggestions Mike. I eliminated the possibility of it being a painter issue as I have 3 painters on site and the all do the same thing. Tried a pail of dulux dryfall I had left over and it sprayed beautifully. Talked to my paint rep with SW and he said he scrambled to find the extra 5 pails I needed and pulled it from a warehouse it was sitting in for who knows how long. Bad paint. They are replacing the 5 pails with a100 to finish the walls.
Thanks again
