In a similar vain to the other thread, what is your go to trim paint for exterior?

I have been using General Paint: HP2000 semi gloss or for people who want to pay more, Aura semi gloss

HP2000 ( HP stands for High Performance ) from General Paint up here in Canada

Only problem, is that last summer I noticed it was tacking up WAY too quickly on me while working on some complicated windows. Cutting it back or using a conditioner helped a bit, but the problem was never fully resolved.

I was a little disappointed, but that was the only time I had this issue. Works great inside too. ( it's an interior/exterior product, I was surprised at first )

One paint that I really love for exterior doors however is BM Metal and Wood.

My old supplier called it Impervo ( but not the satin which is interior only, this is a gloss finish ) It's oil base and almost bulletproof when applied properly. Super smooth almost mirror like finish with a good brush and a foam roller.

Only reason I wasn't too sure, is because I had mentioned the name "Impervo" on this forum last summer and everyone thought I was nuts using an interior paint on a front door or something :p

I'm actually using it on a job coming up in a few weeks here. A bunch of black trim and doors, I'm glad they have a pre-mix black, maybe we'll get a full season out of it that way ;)

Actually I did a roof ( yes a roof ) about 3 seasons ago with the collection exterior low lustre pre-mix and the color held up MUCH better than expected.

Used to be HP2000, and though I think it is a great interior trim paint I don't like it for exterior work. It gums up too fast and doesn't spread well at all in weather above 20C. It's too shiny in semi, doesn't level well as i'd like and also seems to degrade prematurely - usually after about 4-5 years it is failing. It'll last forever on interiors.

I'm liking the Aura exterior though. Spreads awesome and has great hide. Sure it's costly, but well worth it considering there are far fewer hassles. I'd like to find a good alternative to HP from General Paint for those jobs where I need custom colour matches or something a bit less expensive.
